Request & Collect
Request & Collect is one of the quickest and easiest ways to use the library when you can’t come in and browse the shelves yourself. We first created the service during the coronavirus lockdown but we are still using it because it has become one of the most popular ways for our customers to get their library books.
Request what you need, we’ll get them ready for you, then you just drop in and collect them from the foyer whenever it suits you. Quick, easy and contactless.
You can reserve your books by browsing our online catalogue and reserving them yourself or by contacting us via phone on 01856 873166 or by emailing library@orkney.gov.uk. If you need your library PIN to access your Online Account please get in touch.
Once we have your requests we’ll gather and issue all the items you need then email you to let you know when they’re ready to collect. All items will be put in the foyer with your surname on them, so you can come along and collect them whenever you like. You’ll know you’re getting exactly what you want, you won’t have to queue or wait to get them issued, you can be in and out of the library in less than a minute.
